It’s obvious you don’t think about this often…putting on a new roof, but when we have to, it’s actually a big decision.
And the decision that I’m talking about that we see homeowners struggle in making is whether or not to go with an asphalt or metal roof.
So when we get asked our opinion, we simply answer the questions with a question. There’s one question that usually helps with the decision making process, so we wanted to save you some time and potential stress by asking you today.
ARE YOU READY FOR THE QUESTION? Here it goes…
What’s your long term vision for your home?
There is it! It’s that one question that usually helps a homeowner make a decision pretty quickly.
But here’s why we say that…Install a metal roof and it’s most likely you won’t have to worry about it again. This is good if you’re staying in your home.
However, a metal roof could potentially bite you if you’re choosing to sell your house because it could reduce your home’s value.
Meaning, you just can’t get up and walk on a metal roof like you can asphalt. Because an inspector can’t “walk” the roof and get a feel for the true condition, this has, at times, reduced a home’s value in the eyes of a bank.
We have never personally seen this happen because we sit down to really help our customers take a look at their project, what they want to see in their future and then we help them make a decision that is best for their family.
So the question of an asphalt or a metal roof has been around for a long time and it’s not going away soon…
…but hopefully we gave one angle that will help get you close to a decision when it comes to choosing the best roof for your family.
